Last week I was going to turn it on, only to find that it would keep turning off and on repeatedly on it's own and not be picked up by the monitor. The only way to stop it is to hold the power button during the period it is until it turns off. Because it would start going off and on right away and not affecting the monitor in any way I thought it was the power supply and swapped it out for a new one of the same model, today. However, after installing it it still does not work. The only noticeable difference is that the first time it turns on it stays significantly longer before doing the off and on thing again. Any help here would be appreciated. Thank you.

Solution
sounds like a hardware boot faillure, my guess graphics, mobo or cpu. Check graphics first, that's the easiest one, first replug it, maybe it sagged, then swap it. if problem isn't resolved then check out cpu or mobo.
