Specs-
MSI 970 AM3+/AM3 Motherboard
AMD FX-6300 CPU
EVGA 500W PSU
WD Blue 1TB HDD
I built my computer some time around May of last year, and it's been performing fine since then. When I decided to clean it out last week, however, it decided it wanted to stop working. After a brief cleaning, I put the desktop back, expecting everything to work just fine. Instead, nothing really happened, apart from the power light turning on.
The power light would turn on, but there would be no HDD activity coming from the light. Furthermore, the computer would not POST, nor would anything come on the screen upon turning it on. It acts as though there's no CPU in it, but I've been told that it can be either the motherboard or CPU. I'm merely asking around for some further suggestions, before I go out and buy a new piece of hardware, only to find out it was the wrong piece. I have noticed that people with this problem haven't been able to turn off their computer; they'd have to disconnect it. I, on the other hand, have not been having that problem. I can shut the computer down by holding the power button down from five to ten seconds.
Any and all help is appreciated.
