I have been meaning to replace/upgrade my current ram since I have been having a few issues for a while, all of which seem to point to faulty ram. My current ram sticks are 2x8gb Patriot PSD416G2133KH (will link pictures), and I was about to replace them with a single Viper 16gb PVE416G266C6GY, but my pc would not display upon turning on (as in fans start spinning, lights are on, but nothing on screen). Pc goes back to normal after putting back the old sticks. I looked up the specs of my motherboard (X995 SLI Krait Edition https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/x99s-sli-krait-edition#down-manual ) and everything should be right. Are they compatible or are the sticks supposed to be paired when it comes to this motherboard? The manual does not specify is single sticks can be used. This is the second time I have tried to replace my ram and failed. Last time I was trying with a pair of what should have been the same type of stick and got nothing. I would truly appreciate and assistance I can get.

Edit: I also just noticed the website has a list of compatible ram, so does that mean I am literally locked into this list? https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/x99s-sli-krait-edition#support-mem-0

Patriot Viper Elite DDR4 PVE416G266C6KBL are not listed on the MB QVL so have not been tested.
It may be just a requirement to clear CMOS and update your Bios to ensure compatibility. If you can get into your Bios then manually enter DRAM primary Timings and voltage and see how you go.

If no luck then return what you have and choose a kit that have been tested in a kit of (2x8) 2666Mhz that are listed on the MB QVL and known to work.
