Still unable to connect to my modem via ethernet.
Since my last post, I've updated to the latest firmware on my modem with no success.
I've also connected my computer to another modem(cable so cant use it) over EoP with no problems.
So I've basically narrowed it down to one of 2 possbilities.
1. Somethings wrong with the ethernet ports or the modem.
2. There's some sort of software incompatibility issue.
Does anyone know of any isolation tests i can try? I'm going to try and see if it will connect to my foxtel, and any other non-computer device with an ethernet cable. I'll update this after i'm done.

Original Post
I'm unable to get a connection with my modem and when i do it usually drops shortly after.
I'm using a netcomm np205 to connect them atm, but i have tried connecting my computer directly into the modem and the connection still wasnt stable although more reliable. I'm under the impression or atleast hoping that once i get a smooth connection with the modem the EoP should stabilize.

I've tried everything i could find on the web and nothing has worked.
Tried changing cables.
Tried using another computer with similar results, aswell as this computer awhile ago but i just assumed it was because it was old and the network card may not be up to scratch.
Tried resetting the modem and computer in various orders.
Tried using a static IP(IPv4)
Tried restoring modem back to factory settings.

Anyone have any ideas? The computers brand new, got it yesterday and i am able to get a strong connection but it doesnt last long so I'm thinking its not probably not a hardware issue, although it could be a problem with the modem itself.

Modem: Netgear n600
Motherboard: Asrock z87 extreme6.

Thanks for any replies and help.

Do you have a specific Model for the Modem ? Netgear got several diffrent ones under the n600 series.
Can you tell how old your router/modem is?

By experience from work i have noticed alot of routers/modems starts having trouble after about 3 years.

Having abit hard to understand, while saying you have trouble with the Ethernet, are you saying that you only have problem with the modem <-> internet connection or is it the computer <-> modem connections that is fualty?

If you connect a cable directly to the router from the computer there should be no problem with connection what so ever, so if that is the case i´d try another router and see if the problem stays.

I´ve seen alot of problem with EoP but it´s also a great solution to alot of problems, however if the powerlines in your house is bad or such then you´ll have alot of problem with a EoP connected.

computer <-> modem.
The internet and wireless are fine, the ethernet on the other hand wasnt.
I was getting
unidentified network with and without internet
network with and without internet.
But whenever i was connected it to the net, it would be for about 20 mins at most then disconnect from the modem(it wouldnt let me open routerlogin.net).

Somehow uninstalling my network drivers seemed to have resolved the problem. Which i never considered doing it, bc i had 3 computer experiencing the same problem.
Its been connected 30mins now and still have internet.

Such a strange solution to a strange roblem. Hopefully it stays that way :)
If not, try borrowing another modem and try with because it sounds really wierd having it that way.
Since the modem is still quite new there should be warranty on it.

Thanks for the help, just happy to finally be online. Been trying for nearly a whole day to get the internet running. Just built a new computer and haven't been able to play any games on it yet.

.... and not sure about the warranty, gf threw it across the road one night when she got angry at me.

hmmm, didnt end up fixing it. had good internet for an hr or 2 and then lost connection. So back at square one.

This time i decided to atleast download+install drivers for my wireless dongle so i can use that for now.
