Going by the HP product specs, the motherboard in that PC is a uATX which is a mATX so it should fit any stadnard case. I woudl recommend spending maybe 10-20 bucks more on teh case and get something like the Corsair Carbide SPEC-04 or Phanteks Eclipse P300. They are much better cases.

As far as the GPU fitting, yes it shouldnt be an issue.

The PSU you picked should work just fine and a 550 Watt would be more then enough if its cheaper.

I would recommend a 500GB or larger SSD as 250 GB will fill up very fast. Crucial MX500 are usually 10 bucks cheaper over Samsung and just as good.

Thank you for the response!

I went for a Corsair Carbide SPEC-05, is that okay?

Is the motherboard/processor powerful enough to run the games at a high setting?
(Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-4790T CPU @ 2.70GHZ, 2701 Mhz, 4 Crore(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Max Turbo boost enables it at 3.9 GHZ btw.

Someone should have warned you about HP not offering bios updates for their motherboards. So if your PC starts having issues due to an outdated bios, you're utterly screwed. I would never recommend you bother buying any PC to play games on it from such a company that considers this an acceptable business practice. It really should be illegal considering their computers might be used to perform critical operations.

I think he is using the CPU, RAM and Mobo from the existing HP computer and not upgrading anything aside from the GPU, PSU, SSD and just moving it to a new case.

Yeah, just seeing the word HP triggers critical errors in my own biological event viewer. I'd still replace the motherboard itself if he is trying to play video games with it. If his computer goes hay wire while trying to play a game because of his bios, he won't be able to do anything about it anyway. For cases, I can only recommend one that I'm using. The case fans are in the front like they should be for better air flow, and it does an extraordinary job of it. It doesn't come with a CD/DVD Drive though, so he'll have to buy an external one.

For now I'll see whether to change motherboard or not.
I trust the one I have as it has not let me down or showed any hassle whenever I ran Skyrim through medium difficulty or played performance draining games of that calibre.
I will talk to my friend who will be the one to build my pc, and I'll tell him about the potential bio outdate hazard just to be safe tho.

Btw what motherboard do you recommend?
(preferably anything on the cheaper end, I'm canadian also so I use canadian currency)

I ordered the case yesterday.
I got a Corsair Carbide SPEC-05 tower/case.

Do you and/or @richie_stang78, believe this is a good enough SSD Card to use?

It should be fine. Its a bit of a dated CPU and you should probably start saving up for something modern (you'll need a new mobo and ram as well) but for the time being I do t think you'll have any bottleneck with it.

MY CPU also uses max turbo boost speed which clocks at 3.9 GHZ

Why do you feel I need a new mobo? Can you elaborate on how much ram I need?

Is this good enough SSD?

Personally I would spend the 10 extra dollars and get the Crucial MX 500 over the WD. The WD isnt bad but the Crucial is faster and IMO worth the slight cost.

As to your question about MOBO, honestly I wouldn't bother upgrading your mobo, just keep what you have and unless a problem arises just use it till you can afford a more modern CPU/Mobo/RAM setup.

Alright. I'll think about it. I want HDD for computer files/work files, etc while SDD for games only.
Do I need to buy a SATA to USB Cable, Mounting Bracket as well?

That's what I thought as well. I'll trust in my current motherboard/CPU/Ram set up. I mean I have spent more than I can on my current budget.

I feel I have enough RAM. After all I just want to play a fully modded high setting skyrim with decent/solid FPS.

If you can find me a decent/cheap price (canadian currency) for the set up, that would be great!

My HP motherboard was certainly a bios hazard. They haven't updated it since 2013. It was basically the one thing that forced me to buy a brand new motherboard sooner than I wanted to. It gave me absolute hell for three years, so HP can suck me....hard.

How much are you willing to spend exactly? It all basically comes down to that.

@richiestang_78

^ What he said, I'd also buy a 2TB SSD knowing how much space just one video game will swallow up. Make sure you install both your operating system and video games on it. Its not going to make any difference if you don't.

I got my HP Slim PC in December 2016 , but I haven't had any troubles with games, as they usually run so I have trust in this mobo. The big difference for me was that it lagged a lot fps wise and the quality was crappy (had to play low settings for decent FPS) because I was using an Intel HD Graphics latest one and we all know Intel HD Graphics blows.

For two years I was tired of Intel HD bullshit, so wanted to shift to Nividia Graphics. It will be a such change for me just in quality/performance just by changing the GPU.

$600-700 budget.
I spent most of the money on GPU, PSU, Case, and now SSD. So I'll keep the motherboard as it is for now when playing. Will get a new one if something happens.

OS Hardware/HDD occupies around 1TB
and I'm going to be using 500 GB SDD for the games tho.

Do I need to buy a SATA to USB Cable, Mounting Bracket as well?

Yep shame on this company!

I run lots of mods with Skyrin SE with ultra settings. My setup consists of an fx 8350 and a radeon r9 fury and 8gb ddr3 ram. I think you would be fine performance wise. Don't know about compatibility myself but they have charts all over the internet. I had to mod my case to fit my gpu.

I'm not sure what to do for SSD, reading from it online.
Some people are saying Samsung EVO (more time span/better endurance) is better, others are saying crucial is better :/

and guys 2.5" will fit for my new case right?

Well it looks like the case you just ordered has 2.5 inch drive bays, so you should be fine. You might have to buy a SATA cable though since SSD's don't usually come with one. I recall having to buy one for mine.

I have a Samsung QVO myself, its served me well so far. And you have a 2.5 inch drive bay, three in fact, so yes, it will fit.

Will buy the cable. Do I need a mounting bracket?

Yep, seems to be subjective on what is faster, based on reading comments and vids.
One advantage Samsung has is better cloning. I'll go for 500 GB since I won't be playing many games.

The only potential issue now is definitely the motherboard.
For now I'll trust it:
(My current motherboard is Shave H-SW)

but..

If I was forced to change it, what would you recommend?
Decent price wise
Cheapest price wise

CPU Processor/RAM seems to be fine just for the game I'm playing , so no worries there.

You shouldn't need one. I didn't need one on mine because the brackets are already in it.

Really, the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the read and write speed, and they all seem to be the same on average depending on how recent the model is.

I mean, you can look up what bios updates HP is offering on their website. In the link below, click on 'software and drivers' at the top of the page and go from there. I'm willing to bet you won't find anything.

How cheap are we talking about? You have to be specific with the price range.

Fair enough.
I'll have to rely it on for now.

Very cheap, $50-75 at most. Budget is limited with the stuff I bought.
What motherboard do you have?

and will yes grab a Sata USB cable.
I've settled with this SSD, good for the price:

Well I have a Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard, but those will cost you up to $300.

Link: X570 Auros Master

For $75, its going to be hard to find a motherboard worth your time, although the two linked below seem ok, not sure what others here would think of them. The first one is a shade above $75. I almost want to advise you to wait and save your money if the HP motherboard isn't giving you any trouble though, until you can afford to get a higher end one from a more reputable company. With motherboards, you want to future proof it, and the future is motherboards with PCI-E 4.0 slots because it provides double the data rate transfer of PCI-E 3.0 slots, meaning double the performance.
