Going by the HP product specs, the motherboard in that PC is a uATX which is a mATX so it should fit any stadnard case. I woudl recommend spending maybe 10-20 bucks more on teh case and get something like the Corsair Carbide SPEC-04 or Phanteks Eclipse P300. They are much better cases.

As far as the GPU fitting, yes it shouldnt be an issue.

The PSU you picked should work just fine and a 550 Watt would be more then enough if its cheaper.

I would recommend a 500GB or larger SSD as 250 GB will fill up very fast. Crucial MX500 are usually 10 bucks cheaper over Samsung and just as good.

It should be fine. Its a bit of a dated CPU and you should probably start saving up for something modern (you'll need a new mobo and ram as well) but for the time being I do t think you'll have any bottleneck with it.

Someone should have warned you about HP not offering bios updates for their motherboards. So if your PC starts having issues due to an outdated bios, you're utterly screwed. I would never recommend you bother buying any PC to play games on it from such a company that considers this an acceptable business practice. It really should be illegal considering their computers might be used to perform critical operations.

I think he is using the CPU, RAM and Mobo from the existing HP computer and not upgrading anything aside from the GPU, PSU, SSD and just moving it to a new case.

Yeah, just seeing the word HP triggers critical errors in my own biological event viewer. I'd still replace the motherboard itself if he is trying to play video games with it. If his computer goes hay wire while trying to play a game because of his bios, he won't be able to do anything about it anyway. For cases, I can only recommend one that I'm using. The case fans are in the front like they should be for better air flow, and it does an extraordinary job of it. It doesn't come with a CD/DVD Drive though, so he'll have to buy an external one.

For now I'll see whether to change motherboard or not.
I trust the one I have as it has not let me down or showed any hassle whenever I ran Skyrim through medium difficulty or played performance draining games of that calibre.
I will talk to my friend who will be the one to build my pc, and I'll tell him about the potential bio outdate hazard just to be safe tho.

Btw what motherboard do you recommend?
(preferably anything on the cheaper end, I'm canadian also so I use canadian currency)

That's what I thought as well. I'll trust in my current motherboard/CPU/Ram set up. I mean I have spent more than I can on my current budget.

I feel I have enough RAM. After all I just want to play a fully modded high setting skyrim with decent/solid FPS.

If you can find me a decent/cheap price (canadian currency) for the set up, that would be great!

Yep this seems to be the plan, because all of that won't fit in my current HP Slim case.
and I used Intel HD Graphics to play skyrim before lol.

My HP motherboard was certainly a bios hazard. They haven't updated it since 2013. It was basically the one thing that forced me to buy a brand new motherboard sooner than I wanted to. It gave me absolute hell for three years, so HP can suck me....hard.

The big difference for me was that it lagged a lot fps wise and the quality was crappy (had to play low settings for decent FPS) because I was using an Intel HD Graphics latest one and we all know Intel HD Graphics blows.

For two years I was tired of Intel HD bullshit, so wanted to shift to Nividia Graphics. It will be a such change for me just in quality/performance just by changing the GPU.

$600-700 budget.
I spent most of the money on GPU, PSU, Case, and now SSD. So I'll keep the motherboard as it is for now when playing. Will get a new one if something happens.

I run lots of mods with Skyrin SE with ultra settings. My setup consists of an fx 8350 and a radeon r9 fury and 8gb ddr3 ram. I think you would be fine performance wise. Don't know about compatibility myself but they have charts all over the internet. I had to mod my case to fit my gpu.

Well it looks like the case you just ordered has 2.5 inch drive bays, so you should be fine. You might have to buy a SATA cable though since SSD's don't usually come with one. I recall having to buy one for mine.

Well I have a Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard,but those will cost you up to $300.

For $75, its going to be hard to find a motherboard worth your time, although the two linked below seem ok, not sure what others here would think of them. The first one is a shade above $75. I almost want to advise you to wait and save your money if the HP motherboard isn't giving you any trouble though, until you can afford to get a higher end one from a more reputable company. With motherboards, you want to future proof it, and the future is motherboards with PCI-E 4.0 slots because it provides double the data rate transfer of PCI-E 3.0 slots, meaning double the performance.

Also, other thing you may run into is trying to connect the front panel buttons like power, reset etc as sometimes big PC builders use proprietary parts.
