Computer using up hundreds of gigabytes of data

My new computer (as of August 2014) has recently acting up. It started out at 2 TB and I installed a couple of games on it. A few months later and now I only have 400GB free with only a couple games installed. I want to know why a bunch of system files are using 55 GIGABYTES.

Sorry, I haven't noticed it.
Not sure what application does create those files. They started in October 2014 (30th), it seems.
Have you installed some utility?
Can you delete the files?

I can't delete them

You can try changing permissions... or reinstall Windows.

Right click, Security, then Edit, but I suggest reinstalling Windows. Try also to find out what application creates those files.

Whenever I try to interact with the files it says "access is denied" and i can't do anything.

(The files are in the folder "System Volume Control")

Right click, Security, Advanced, Continue, Permissions entries, Add your user account.
But I guess that those are the restore points. I wonder why they are that size.
