Computer Video on TV

I'm looking for a way to watch video from my computer on my TV, without
the hassle of splitting files and burning them to VCD the whole time.

I'm no expert in this, but am I right in thinking that you can actually
sometimes experience better quality by watching videos on your TV and
not your monitor? I had always thought it would be the other way round,
but then I realised that a lower resolution display might be better if
you have a low resolution video which you have to stretch to fill your
computer screen. Is this correct? Are there any video cards that send
just video to the TV screen and not the whole monitor output, because
it seems that as soon as I stretch videos for the monitor I lose
quality.

Any advice much appreciated.

Matrox P650 (I have), and other from their range.

I have a TV connected to the second monitor port, and this is set up as
a 'feature display', it only shows video that's in an overlay window on
the main screen.

Interlaced video _will_ look better on a TV.

Just bought a new ADS Media link to "test it out". Works awesome!
http://www.adstech.com/products/MXL-581/intro/MXL-581_intro.asp?pid=MXL-581

I just wired up my kids rooms with Eithernet as well as my living room
and bedroom. You place this media box on a TV, run the server software
on your PC (telling it where to find all the MOV,AVI, and DivX files,
and it turns your computer/TV into a giant PVR holding a virtual library
of TV shows.

Even works with wireless in the House, although I plugged in EitherNet.
Comes with a remote control too!

Only downfall.. I was going to set up a Linux Box as the media server,
put in four 500 GB hard drives and use that as a massive 2T media
server, but the ADS box only connects to windows machines.. So, I might
have to set up a windows server instead.

I would recommend these media players over a PRV because they are
smaller, cheaper, and take less power and give less heat sitting on
several TVs around the house.. Not to mention that you can share content
with the server over multiple TVs. :)

Looks ok, I have a similar one but it appears that it only has
RCA composite video output. Of course, you might want to
get it if you are waiting for the HD Media Players to come
down in price. You would have every thing in place for the
switch. Just don't pay too much for it. ( Try a Froogle search)
