This is my first build. After various problems, I managed to turn on my computer yesterday. I started installing windows when all of a sudden it told me I was missing a CD/DVD or a driver or something & needed to add it via USB. So I left my computer on for a few hours as I was looking for a solution. So I went and found a shut down option on the windows install screen, shut it off & went to sleep. Today I plugged in a SSD I received for christmas & then proceeded to turn it on. When I turned it on, it gave me no display. I have tried removing the CMOS battery and putting it back in, I have tried unplugging my GPU & pluggin in my HDMI to the intergrated graphics in my motherboard which is an Asrock proS4 & still nothing. Sometimes the monitor recognizes it's plugged into something when I turn the computer on as it goes into standby mode when it has nothing to do & as soon as I turn on my computer, it searches for a signal but other times it just stays in standby mode & the screen doesnt even react to my computer turning on. So does anyone have any suggestions/solutions? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know the gpu is working? Did you test with another gpu? Anyways, let's just assume gpu is working according to you. Next is test psu(power supply unit). Then after that, if problem persists, test out ram and different combinations and one stick in the system. Then remove all drives and see if you get a boot then. After that, you know the drives are good and psu is good. Then you need to test cpu. Then maybe making sure no ground outs are happening. Then test motherboard and maybe get a post card reader at this stage.
My monitor is in fact working, the gpu is working & so is the HDMI cord. My monitor notices when I turn on my pc with the HDMI cord plugged into the gpu, but sadly still no display
