Computer went from fully functioning to completely bricked. Suspected power supply fault, but not entirely sure.

Today I booted up my computer and it worked for about 5 minutes before turning off. When I tried to restart it, I could not because the power supply would not turn on. When I do attempt to turn it on, there is no response whatsoever. No fans coming on, no LED lights flashing, nothing. This leads me to suspect that it is the problem with the power supply and that getting it replaced (it's still under warranty) would fix my problem. I did not notice any burning or weird smells coming from the power supply, it just went from fully functional to not working at all. I recently cleaned all of the components with air in a can and the temperatures are fine. What could this be?

Solution
power supply or mb may not turn on if there a dead short or cut wire. to test the power supply pull if from the pc. use the green wire trick see if it turns on. if it does see if a friend has a volt meter and read the atx output of the power supply. one other trick is pull all the cards and leave one stick of ram in see if the pc boots. sometimes a gpu or fan can fail causing a dead short. also look for stuck reset button.

[strike]There's not really anything to diagnose it it won't come on at all[/strike]. To be honest though it does sound like a faulty PSU.

One thing to try *first* however... is check the fuse in the power lead 😛 I've had that happen before so probably worth ruling out first.
