So yeah as I stated on the very sad title, I was using my computer and out of no where, my computer went off, then i heard a pop and then I saw light behind my computer (which is under my desk). Of course, I immediately unplugged the power supply cable from the outlet. After like 5-8 minutes, I unplugged every cable from my computer and took my computer out from the desk.
After opening my computer, I noticed a burn smell coming from the computer which was stronger around the power supply. Thus, I took the power supply out from the case.
I am like around 60% sure that the power supply is dead. I am also currently waiting for a friend's of mine to lend me his power supply to see if there was any other component which died during this regretful event. In the mean time, I just wanted to ask the community( and who ever reads this boring post) if there is anything i should be cautious about, in order to not sink myself even lower into despair.... Furthermore, if anyone could provide me with any ideas that they may have about what caused this occurrence and how to prevent it, I would be very thankful.
Also these are my current specs:
Asus m4a89gtd Pro/USB3
No internal graphic card
Amd Phenom x4 925 or so (Cant really check right now since I cannot turn the pc on lol)
4 gigabytes of ram
Windows 7
2 500 gb hard drives
Eagle ET-PSVTX500-BK (yeah i know not the best company one could get power supplies from....)
Most probably noticed but this is a custom build computer
P.S: Also, I forgot to mention that before I unplugged the pc after the spark and shutting down of it, I noticed that the motherboard had the green led on (the one that signifies that I can turn on the computer)
Would that mean that the motherboard is safe or does it hold no importance in this matter?
