Long story short, new memory, won’t post. Decided to flash bios (the method that does not require cpu and ram installed). Been flashing for way too long, holding down power button will not shut down the pc. Do I switch off the power supply? Please help 🙏

MB is Tomahawk x570 Wi-Fi

What BIOS version were you on and what BIOS version are you flashing to? In this instance, you should be patient for th light to stop flashing.

You should clear the CMOS after you've verified that the BIOS was successfully flashed to the latest version.

I cleared cmos just before flashing. Last time I updated bios was around roughly 18 months ago I think. Before flashing I had no debug lights so all seemed fine, usb devices got power too. Just black screen with both hdmi and display port. When I pressed (not hold) power button before this, it took a few seconds to shut down. Almost as if the pc was in windows, although idk for sure.

Currently there is a cpu debug light. EDIT: Flashing to the newest version of bios that is not in beta. Sorry EDIT2: flashing to 7C84v1E

The light is not flashing, it did 45 minutes ago

Edit3: ok I googled around and found someone waiting 3 hours to update their MSI MB bios. Going to sleep on this one 😅

Update just finished! I kept pressing the flash button at 15 minute intervals and eventually it restarted and updated the bios. At least I think it updated since the fan speed variation and debug led behaviour seems a lot different now. I guess they disabled the power button for a reason.

Thanks for the help. I would probably have switched the power supply if you didn’t recommend not to.

Still no post though. Can anyone make something out of these debug lights? No lights after 15 seconds or so.

Bottom is CPU, then RAM, then VGA and lastly top is BOOT led. Running on Zen 3800x, RTX 3090 and new ram is LPX Vengance 3200Mhz CL16. Just using one 16 gb stick now.
