I recently started having this strange problem which I cannot find an answer for online.
My computer (a Windows 10 PC) will not start when it is connected to the monitor. While connected to the monitor, there is no response when I press the power button.
However, if I unplug the Displayport cable connecting my PC to the monitor and press the power button, then the PC will start normally (lights flash, fans start whirring). After a couple of seconds, if I plug the monitor cable back in, then the monitor will work and I can use the computer as normal.
But once the computer gets shut down or goes into deep sleep mode, the problem starts all over again. I have to repeat the process - unplug the monitor cable, power on the PC, and then plug the cable back in.
Any idea what is causing the problem? FYI, I am using an Acer XB270HU monitor which connects via a Displayport-to-Displayport cable to a Palit Nvidia GTX 980 TI graphics card. I've already tried replacing the cable with a new one, but that doesn't solve the problem.
