Howdy, so I have an old PC with a fx 8350 and rx 570 and it’s nothing good but I could use it. But when I start it up it doesn’t post and the weird part is the power button will not turn it off and the only way to shut it down is to turn off the psu. I already tried resetting the CMOS.

your OS "Shut down or sign out" options do not work?

to try fixing the power switch;
try to re-seat the front panel connections to the motherboard.
they are usually a bit loose and can even get dust buildup on the pins even with the cables attached. maybe try delicately cleaning the header before reseating.

also can just be a front I/O panel going bad.

or even Windows settings. there are options in Windows to determine what the power buttons will do; power off, sleep, hibernate, nothing.

It won’t post so I can’t do anythkng

as always when looking for help, post the complete system specs.

not posting:
...when I start it up it doesn’t post...
sorry, just ignored that part.

try RAM in different DIMM slots, one at a time if multiple modules.
try a different PSU that you know functions.
try a different GPU that you know functions.

case power button:
are you just pressing the button or holding it down for a length of time?
It won’t post so I can’t do anythkng
why would it not posting prevent you from physically accessing the motherboard and the case's front panel connections?
