Im new to upgrading and I just attempted to upgrade my prebuilt gaming rig, and it wont boot anymore and Im a damsel in distress needing some help to see if i got anything wrong. Also please help with anything you have.
The prebuilt rig i tried upgrading is the CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra 2098 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229285)
quick specs:
cpu: AMD FX-Series FX-4300 (3.80GHz)
ram: 8GB DDR3
hdd: 500GB SATA II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB
PSU: sketchy (brandless) 500w
I bought this computer a while back and I decided to upgrade the motherboard, cpu, and graphics card.
cpu: AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514)
Graphics Card: GIGABYTE GV-R927XOC-4GD Radeon R9 270X 4GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125496)
While Upgrading it seemed that I didn't have all the cables for the motherboard for example i only had one connector for usb while the motherboard had 3 usb connector. heres a potato quality photo from my phone for your expert evaluation
On the bottom you see how empty the connectors are especially the area with the speaker connector. As I only had the speaker, hdd l.e.d., reset switch, power switch wires for me to hook up. But I did have the 12v and 24 pin connector for me to hook up and i read thats important to have so i guess i have the major cables from my power supply.
After I set up my motherboard i hooked up the graphics card and i was set at least i thought. I reconnected everything I booted up the system and for a quick second my fans started then shut off. I then remembered the graphics card had a external power cords i thought wasnt necessary. (heres an image of them)
The booklet the card came with said they arrn't necessary but i think they need to be hooked up but i cant find any connectors that seem to fit those connectors except for one but it has four female prong slots while the card power cable only has 3 and even if the card card can use it I dont have enough.
(heres a image of them)
Finally I checked with a bunch of psu calculators
PSU calculators:
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
http://www.coolermaster.outervision.com/
http://support.asus.com/powersupply.aspx
and they said 500w of power was enough for the build. So I have no idea of what to do for my computer to live again. Please help me with any info or experience you have for it would be much appreciated.
