Computer Won't Boot, Gets Stuck on Bios **SOLVED**

Hey everyone,

Just before you ask, I went through the sticky before posting this but I do not think it was relevant to me, because I did not build this system my self and I have not altered my computer physically in any way.

So, earlier today, I was playing a game when it suddenly crashed on me. A message popped up on the bottom of the screen saying that my video driver had crashed (or something like that, sorry i am not very good with computers). The game still wouldn't work so I restarted the computer.

The computer shut down fine but when I turned it back on it got stuck on the bios screen and wouldn't do anything else. It gives me options such as pushing F9 to enter "XpressRecovery2" but none of these gives me any response. The computer does it's usual beep sound every time I turn it on, I don't know what that means but it might be of some help to you.

Computer specs:

-i7 870 2.93GHz
-8GB 1600MHz RAM
-Sapphire HD6850 1GB Graphics Card

I am not sure what my motherboard is but bios says something like "P55A-UD3 F10"

Hey, I can't do anything in the bios. It won't let get past the first screen. I feel like the problem has something to do with the video drivers.

Video drivers are loaded after initial post. You don't see, in the top right corner or anywhere on the screen a hit F12 to enter setup or something along those lines? Hit the power button and just keep hitting F12 and see if it does anything different.

Thanks for the reply, I tried doing that but still nothing. It says I have 4 options, push "DEL" for "BIOS Setup", push "F9" for XpressRecovery2", "F12" for "Boot Menu" and "End" for "Qf lash".

DEL, looks like it's the delete key for you then. Hit the delete key and you will enter your BIOS settings. Look to see if your hard drive is even listed in BIOS.

The problem I have is that hitting the F12 button or the delete button doesn't seem to do anything at all. The screen just stays the same.

how many memory stick is there?

You could start swapping parts out to try and test the machine, but I'm thinking either ram, motherboard or hd. But heck as funny as computers can be it could be the power supply even. At work the first thing I usually do is pull the ram and put it back in.

Try them one at a time. Remember if you have 4 slots for ram and you put one stick in you have to make sure it's in the right slot.

Thanks everyone for the help! I managed to get the computer working by unplugging things such as the external hard drive and turning it on without them plugged in. I think it must have been something on the external HD that was causing it!

I had a similar problem today and was considering buying a replacement mobo but thought I would try pulling the RAM after reading this and it worked! cheers macten
