[SOLVED] Computer won't Boot into SSD without HDD connected

I just installed a new GPU and I removed my HDD from my setup, as I don't use it anymore, since I have all of my data, programs, games (and OS of course), on my SSD.

However, the computer would greet me with the "Reboot and select boot device or insert boot media into selected boot device" message. I went into the BIOS and ensured that it was booting from the SSD (as it has been for the past year).

After trying a recovery cd, and diskpart, I reconnected the HDD, and the computer booted without a problem. I double checked that it was booting from the SSD, which it was.

What is the cause of this? Is there possibly some boot data on the HDD? And if so, can I move it to my SSD so that I won't have this issue again?

Thank you everyone!

Solution
If you installed Windows while the HDD was connected to the system, Windows could have place a partition on the HDD.
That partition is required for Windows to boot.
