Computer wont boot up after hp logo

Hello,

what do i do?

I had this problem 3 days ago...i ran the startup recovery and it worked fine.. the next day i tried turning on my laptop and the same blank screen after the logo...so i thought ill run the startup recovery but now it says cant fix it automatically....what do i do next?

running win 7 ultimate 64

i took the hdd out and put it on a usb enclourse so i was able to save all my data but i dont want to lose all my programs cause i dont have all of the setup files.

I remember back in the xp days i was able to copy over windows files from the cd to windows folder on C: to overwrite the corrupt files and able to make it work again.

Can i do that with windows 7? and if so, what files do i copy over to make it boot .

P.S. I cant get to safe mode or any mode without using the dvd but that only gets me to the recovery menu.

I tried to do a custom install but it install but still wont boot up

awesome replies guys...i just ended up formatting the hard drive and installing win 7 clean. had spent already too much time on this nonsense

Well good luck, sounds like your hard drive is failing. Expect more trouble in the near future.
