Computer wont boot when i attach the CPU heat sink clamps, but works fine when operating without clamps, when clamps are on I'll get either a steady or flashing red light on the mother board, would love to hear a fix for this since now i have to run the computer laying on its side without the heat sink clamps attached

Solution
You're crushing the CPU / Socket..... back off on the screw tightening. You may also have cut thru the circuitry protective layer on your MoBo under the mounting clamps...... see that with the Hyper 212 a few times.
I have encountered this problem on many motherboards Z68, Z77 and now Z87, two of which to do with the CPU heatsink being fastened too tight and the motherboard screws too tight so you may want to loosen the screws a bit and one of which the motherboard was being short circuited from underneath the motherboard a contact was touching.

Do you get a Error code 55 or DRAM LED light on? it can also be CPU socket pin is bent so inspect this . Let me know how you got on.

I receive no error codes since it wont even post, but it does power up and can hear hard drive and see fans going and not knowing if it's a DRAM LED light, but it is a red LED at the bottom of the board that will flash or stay steady red. All pins are good on the CPU+ 2 others I tried in there trouble shooting. Nothing is shorting out under, there is a plastic protection plate under the motherboard for the CPU area, guess I'll try some bending on these clamps so they dont push down as hard

Can you tell me what are your pc specifications please before I advise more.

I see you're using an older Pentium 4 HT based computer, try removing some tension off the clamps and look to see if the board is warped. If not just scrap the whole build and invest in a cheap modernised build if on a budget. Because replacing the motherboard ain't worth it for such a old gen system.

Yeh she is an oldie but still kicks @ss with XP running on it, little bogged with 7. I did as you said and loosened the screws that hold the heat sink block and it's fine now, you got her standing erect again. I do also have 2 newer quad cores in the home, but cant give up ole Betsie since she was my 1st build since coming back from Thailand.(Sentimental) She is how I lived with my wife on cam for 2 years till i finished her visa process to bring her in the states...lol 😍 Thank You so much for your time!

No problem mate and glad to help knew it was the tension around the CPU area :)
