Computer won't boot

My Gateway FX has stopped booting; it will reach the stage where the screen shows "Microsoft Corporation" with a scrolling bar and just stay there. Also it will do exactly the same thing using the recovery disk and when trying to reinstall from the hard disk. Sometimes it will offer me the "repair" option but will get to a "repairing" screen and just stay there. I have put the HD into another machine as a second drive and can read it there with no problem? Any ideas?

hmm it sounds like it might be a probelm with head as a processer heats it up can throughtel and even crash

This most likely is a hard drive issue. Try a new drive. Could be RAM but not as likely.
