Ive overclocked my computer a couple of years back, and it was working just fine. I recently updated to Windows 8, and this started the problem. After updating the computer started crashing on its own. I thought this was a problem with the CPU so i went to try and downclock the system but now the BIOS locked the clock multiplier and wont let me change the multipliers anymore. Im just stuck with the overclock and it seems to be too high for the system to sustain it?
The cpu i/o voltages are also locked and the only thing i can change is the base frequency but not the multiplier. Now im stuck with a cpu thats constantly going to kill itself because I cant do anything to fix it.
Ive tried clearing the CMOS a couple of times with the reset button but no avail. Is there any other reason why my computer turns off on its own every 30~ minutes or so or is the cpu the problem?
the CPU runs at 4.2 Ghz at around 68*C, but I dont think thats too high of a temperature to be constantly causing crashes?
Here are my computer specs if that would help anything.
cpu i7 2600k
mobo p67a gd65
ram 4x2 g corsair 1866mhz
gpu gtx 570 sli
psu 1000w coolermaster
