Motherboard: X470 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming
CPU: Ryzen 7 1800x
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 950
RAM: 16GB (2x8gb) Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4

I recently purchased some used parts, and built this computer as a 2nd, mostly as either a backup gaming pc and/or just for a server.

I am currently attempting to install windows 11 onto the computer, but it refuses to go past the bios. I am able to open up the bios menu, and sit there as long as I want, but once I close out, it'll proceed for a few seconds and then completely restart the pc. Sometimes it will show up the windows logo when loading up the USB for installing windows. If I unplug the USB drive, it will show that there are no bootable devices found.

I have also tried having only one ram module installed, in each spot, but the same problem is still there.

I also read somewhere online that I might need secureboot enabled, although I don't remember having to do that for my main pc. If I do enable it however, my pc becomes unable to get to the bios (fans and leds will turn on). I then have to reset the cmos to be able to get back to the bios.

I also noticed there are three red leds towards the bottom right corner of the motherboard that flash one at a time (cpu, dram, and vga). I'm not sure if that has anything to do with what's going on or not.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Microsoft windows 11 does not support the Ryzen 7 1800x the motherboard does.
Most PCs that have shipped in the last 5 years are capable of running Trusted Platform Module version 2.0 TPM 2.0 is required to run Windows 11. along with a GPT partition and secure boot must be active. below are Ryzen 7 CPUs that support windows 11.

Here is your motherboards CPU support list
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-cpu

Check the gigabyte website for drivers for windows 11.

You will also need this seems FTMP is not a option on this board
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) header (2x6 pin, for the GC-TPM2.0_S

You can by pass all this if you use windows 10 though note that windows 10 MS support will stop in 2025 most likely march just a guess.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I have also tried using a USB to install windows 10 as well, but still had the same issue. Also I've been able to install windows 11 on other devices bypassing the tpm requirement, so I don't believe that it's an incompatibility issue.

Could this be an issue with either the motherboard or cpu, or is there a bios setting that I'm missing that might let me get to the windows install screen?

There was also a very slightly bent pin on one corner of the cpu before I installed it in the motherboard, but it seemed to fit good, so I figured it was probably fine. Could that maybe prevent the computer from booting past the bios?

When I built my current rig I could not get the Installation Media tool to even make a windows 11 installation usb. I had to download the iso image to my pc and burn a DVD.

If this is what you are using, try a dvd if possible. I use an external model.

I don't have a DVD, or even a DVD drive for the computer to be able to install windows through it. I know the USB drive isn't an issue though because I can plug it into my main computer and it operates exactly as it should. It simply doesn't load on my secondary computer for some reason

Would it be worth trying to install windows on another drive plugged into my main pc, then swapping it over to the second to test? The 2nd computer has no issues detecting drives or anything, it just restarts after closing the bios

On my second computer, I don't have any operating system installed currently. I have tried using a USB to install it onto one of two drives currently in the pc, but the system constantly reboots before it can load the windows setup

Is there anything else that might be important to list?

I haven't flashed/updated the bios but it says the version is f2 which when I look it up, it says it's compatible with the cpu. Would it be better to use the latest bios update or can they make the cpu no longer work

No issue there
In My first post I said TMP module would be required which it is. Your motherboard should have fTPM look under ( odd spot) Peripherals for AMD CPU fTPM and active it if its not already. Also Option Control change that to UEFI only. secure boot I think will auto enable once ftpm is active.

As for the bios F2 is the first release version its a bit dated. to make this easier. Lets use the bios version F64e
all the other updates in older bios versions are also in the latest one. You can update the bios without an OS using Qflash.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

If you do not have the manual
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-manual

Read your motherbaord manual how to use Q flash. If you get windows 11 installed than we need to update a few drivers.

AMD APU Driver OS: Windows 11 64bit,Windows 10 64bit 21.30.14

AMD Chipset Driver OS: Windows 11 64bit,Windows 10 64bit 20.45.36.21209a

if audio issues Realtek HD Audio Driver 60.9373.1

Okay so I managed to update the bios (had to install a slightly older update-f31, then was able to install f64e). I also got windows 11 installed and is currently updating. However, the cpu is being VERY slow. It's throttling it to 0.54GHz even though usage is at or under 15%. Also, the computer has randomly shut down several times (not from windows updates). I looked in the bios and it's saying the cpu is at 72 degrees Celsius, which when I look it up, it should be fine, even though it may be a bit on the warmer side. I'm currently also downloading the amd chipset driver to see if that might help

So I swapped the aio liquid cpu cooler out, and installed the stock amd cooler, and it fixed the throttling as well as the temperature, but it still is randomly shutting down?
