Computer won't post bios

This is my first build and I went to plug it in and nothing happens. The only thing I can think of being wrong was there was not reset switch that I had to plug in where the motherboard showed in the manual. The other thing was a sprinkle of thermal paste got on the motherboard and I just left it there. I have tried unplugging my gpu and starting without it. Anything would be helpful at this point. The fans spin, lights turn on and it beeps too.

if it one beep then try video ports on the mb they may be outputting an image. on the mb there a 4/8 pin power plug on the side of the mb make sure that filled with the right power cables and the mb sitting on the brass standoffs so it dont short out. try one ram stick. also look to see what the bios rev of the mb is to make sure it post with your cpu.

It turns I didn't plug in the CPU power connector.
