Computer wont boot. It worked this morning. Then i restarted after doing a nvidia experience update and a razer driver update for mouse and keyboard. The computer didn't restart. And now turns on for a few seconds then powers off again and then cycles until i turn off the psu. I've checked psu and it's working fine, i took off all memory and just ran with one. Same problem. Took off Video cards, HD, tried to get into the bios no luck..

I did notice that the ram smelled a little burned. And I'm wondering if the mother board would short out the ram.. Or if the motherboard is burned. I don't smell any other burning smell from inside the case.

I'm quite stumped. Any help i would appreciate It.

Specs
X99a xpower oc series mobo.
Ax1200i psu
DDR4. 4x8gb sticks
2x 980ti
Corsair h100igtx cpu cooler.

Well it turns on. And that psu has a test button. Fan spins And light turns green. And actually it was weird. When i took out the ram and was trying different ones. It wouldn't shut off right away. It would keep trying to boot. Then the ram got really hot And Then It would turn off. That was when i noticed the burning smell from the ram.. I checked around the cooler And no leaks or signs of coolant. I'm wondering if motherboard do this? Just suddenly decide not to work? I don't think I've ever had that happen..

If the RAM was hot it could be that the +5v rail is malfuctioning on the PSU or that the motherboard is overfeeding voltage to the RAM.

Ok I was re checking. Is it possible that the mother board fried all my sticks of RAM? I checked them all in different slots. And the computer actually stayed on. However the debug screen keeps giving me 55 which is no RAM installed. I'd hate to go buy more RAM and try but at the same time could I justify RMAimg the motherboard and just waiting to try the ram I already
Have on a new mobo?

I'd say if you could feel it and it was hot then it is possible, you haven't changed something in the BIOS that would make it do that? Have you tried doing a CMOS reset? It'll stick the BIOS to default settings. RMA the RAM and Motherboard if it was me, I just hope it isn't the PSU.

So thanks for the answers. I ended up RMAing it. Unfortunately msi takes their Sweet time so i haven't recieved it back yet. Ive been doing some research and it turns out that issue is a prevalent issue on this particular board. Alot of people seem to have the same problem same code same symptoms and only way to fix it is to get a new board. Which for a $400 mobo this seems like crap quality. Anyways... They are taking the full 15 business days to RMA a mobo with a known issue.. Ill post again when i get it back.

I will definetly be more weary of purchasing msi products from now on though. Which might be unfair to say if this was an isolated issue. But the other reviews I've found are basically saying it's a great product if you get a working one.. Kinda kills any trust i had.
