I am having trouble understanding what is happening with my desktop PC. I shut it down before bed last night as I always do, but woke up this morning to find it unable to power up. No lights or anything. Wouldn't power by shorting the power rods either. I've been trouble shooting it all day and was only able to power the machine after removing the GPU.
I have a second tower that I decided to test with, and found a very similar result. Without the GPU it powers right up, but when the GPU is inserted it flicks on for a second before the whole machine goes silent. After which, powering the machine is impossible. Only once the GPU is removed and the plug unplugged for around 10 seconds can the machine be powered again.
Obviously I think the GPU is the problem. But I cant really tell why and I am hoping to understand better before I replace the GPU. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is likely the problem?
