Recently while I was on the computer which is a home built rig my dog knocked the power cord out. And now the computer will not power on at all. I assumed it must have ruined the PSU so i bought a new one from Amazon and replaced it unfortunately this did nothing. Next I swapped out the ram because I had an extra stick and finally replaced the mobo with the same model (new). But it still wont even power on. At this point I have no idea what to do and I need to get this back up and running for school. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

The PSU may be to silent to tell... if lighting does not allow a clear view, use a flashlight to see the fan spinning, or try inserting something that will make noise without breaking, to listen if the fan is spinning.

Is that the old PSU clicking? A post comment said it was dust causing the clicking... after cleaning if the click stopped.

Another post said the RAM modules were not inserted all the way into the slots. Don't see how that would cause the click but check the RAM modules are properly seated.

Check the...
1. The power cable... New PSU and new motherboard should not fail... so the most likely seems to be the AC power cable. Have you checked it thoroughly? Your dog may have chewed it up before.

2. Also check the PSU rocker switch is on

3. Remove the PSU to test it with a paper clip cut in the shape of a "U", and inserted in the 24 pin connector between the green and a black wire.

Check both PSUs:
• If the fan runs on the new PSU, it is most likely ok.
• If the fan runs on the old PSU, it should at least power the computer, but if it has failed, it may not supply enough power to even make the BIOS post.

If the fan doesn't run on both PSUs, the AC cable may have to be replaced.

Yes I used the AC cable from my PC on the TV and it powered right up.
I just tried the TV's AC cable on my PC with no luck. I tried swapping out my power supplies just because I had everything out and noticed with the old power supply my case lighting flickers. While with the new PSU the case lights don't even flicker. I realize that's a random detail but I want to provide all the information I can.

Booting it and and Starting it are different things.. it first has to startup and Post before it can boot
Three things can stop the computer from Starting:

1. The power cable

2. The Power Supply. (A dead PSU can stop a computer from Starting up, from displaying video and obviously from booting)

3. Dead motherboard. (A dead motherboard can stop a computer from starting up, from Posting, from booting. even from displaying video)

Just noticed the CPU LED is blinking red and my power supply is making a quick popping sound and doesn't sound like it is spinning. As far as I can tell the only other thing happening is the CPU fan is spinning.

So the computer AC power cable must be OK...

If the old PSU makes the computer LEDs flicker it's powering the computer, though it may not be supplying enough power to make it run, post and boot. If the new PSU doesn't do a thing, it's not working... check it with a paper clip, cut and shaped in a "U", and inserted in the PSU's 24 pin connector, between the green wire and any black wire next to it. This will make the PSU power on if it's any good. The PSU fan should spin if it powers on. Test both PSUs with the "U" shaped wire to see if they run or not...

Check the Best answer here. It's said to be the PSU voltage regulator, reacting to a motherboard issue.

I was so hesitant to do that test people in forums really made it sound dangerous. Okay I am very happy with the results the LEDs on the older power supply attempted to light up but the fan didn't spin at all. And the new power supply that is right outside its return policy had no response at all. So this means the problem is just my PSU?? I can't believe they sent me a DOA PSU if only they new how sad that makes me.

Click on the link I posted above.. they said the clicking noise was the PSU voltage regulator, reacting to a motherboard issue... and the OP later said the mobo turned out to be defective.

Your PSU did not click with the paper clip test because the motherboard was not making it click.
