I went from an AMD R9 280X and switched to a EVGA GTX 1070. I basically shut down my pc got the old one out and put the new one in and just started it back up. It wont read the GPU, and tries to use CPU integrated graphics. The GPU lights up, but the fans have yet to spin. When I opened the computer back up, the GPU was slightly warm. The problem maybe the drivers aren't installed. It has sat at the loading screen saying checking computer compatability for 15 minutes.
