Computer Won't Recognize New CPU

I recently purchased an intel core 2 quad q6600 to try and get a few more years out of my OptiPlex 755. When I got it, I installed it and my computer booted fine but when I went to task manager it still showed the old cpu (intel core 2 duo) and only 2 cores. I checked on CPU-Z and that said there were only 2 cores too (though it did get the processor name right).

Have you tried uninstalling all processors in Device Manager and then rebooted? It should detect the new CPU.

What is it reported as in the BIOS?
The BIOS may need an update in order to recognize it properly.
