computer won't recognize the second monitor???

I have tried every plug and splitter but I can hook up my second monitor.
I have a Intel (R) Core TM2 Duo CPU. I have a Intel(R) Q35 Express Chipset Family. I only a vga plug in the back of the computer. Not sure if you need any other information.

If you have a single VGA output all you can do is split the signal to the second one so they are both showing the same thing unless you buy a USB video card like this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812329539&cm_re=usb_graphics_card-_-12-329-539-_-Product

I know this maybe a silly question but how do I hook everything up. Do I buy a 2 vga cord that runs into 1 vga, that goes into the product you mentioned? Then that goes into the usb on my computer?

The USB video card gets installed, the second monitor gets connected directly to that. First monitor is connected to the motherboard video output. You do not use any type of 2 in 1 cable.
