Computer won't run 2GB

I have a Dell Dimension 3000. The website said to use 2GB for best performance so I that's what I bought. It will boot with 1GB but makes a noise when I try to boot with 2GB. Is there something I need to adjust to get both to work?

Generally Dell machines will throw a fit of beeps out if you insert unsupported memory. What kind of memory did you get?

I am not sure. The invoice says DDR-333, PC2700. That's all I know. One of the cards works but when I install the other one it does the beeping thing and won't boot. I don't have much memory on my computer. Could that have anything to do with it? I have less than 10% I believe.

I do believe the card is bad. If I take the one that's working out and replace it with the other card it makes the beeping noise and the computer won't work. Computer seems to be a lot faster with the 1GB but hoping 2 will make it faster. I did scan my computer and it says it will hold 2GB

try module one at the time see if computer boot also check if htey are same voltage module specs in manual says you got the one use by dell

I did try one module at a time. One of the cards will work in either. The other card won't work no matter which module I put it in. Must be the card.

Definitely the card. I put a new one in it and it works pefect!!! I just ordered in and there's a 7 day warranty, so I should be good!
