Computer won't turn on after plugging a wheel

Hey everyone,

I recently plugged my wheel to my computer but this time I first plugged the USB to my computer and then the power cord instead of doing it the other way as usual. As soon as I had plugged the power cord, my computer went black and now it won't start again (nothing happens while turning it on, not even the fans start) so I guess it's pretty clear that my computer got damaged somehow.

The wheel is connected to an adaptor if that's any useful information. I tried using another power cord and made sure that the socket works properly. I also removed all extra USB devices before trying to boot my computer and still not working. Apparently the leds on my motherboard (reset and power on) seem to be on but that's all.

Now I need you guys to help me determine which part(s) should be replaced and it would be nice to know if my files are still retrievable.

I'll suggest resetting your CMOS clock (if you haven't done that) before concluding parts need replacement

This is going to be a strange direction I take you at first but bear with me, it just may work.
Remove all ram and attempt to restart with no ram in the machine - does the motherboard speaker indicate ram missing? If yes, put ram back in and attempt to start. If not, let us know.

No it does not indicate that it's missing.

I wasn't expecting that... hmmm
I'll suggest looking over your board for any obvious problems (burnt areas, etc.) while I see if I can't replicate that on one of my machines (just to see what might be going on).
What motherboard do you have?

I did a quick search and didn't find any external damage but i'll definitely look again later and report if I find anything. Oh and my motherboard is ASUS Z87 Deluxe.

Okay, this is interesting (strange), I can't get mine to do anything similar, going through your motherboard manual has yielded nothing enlightening so far...

Try unplugging the PSU from the wall, waiting ~30 minutes then resetting CMOS with the unit unplugged. See if any joy that way.

I managed to fix it. I found that one of the pins connected to that same USB port was already a bit damaged so I suspect that it created a short circuit which damaged the motherboard. I replaced that wire and motherboard and now it's working like a charm.
