computer wont turn on and destroys power supplies

can someone help? I have a computer that over surged the power supply. I can't turn it one and when I put another power supply it immediately burns it out. At first it just took a little more pressure on the power button to turn it on but it started get worse and worse until now it wont turn on. Its very saddening because I use a computer a lot and it was my gaming computer. all I have left is an old computer that's honestly too slow. Please help.

What exactly started this? If a new PSU burned out on first use, could be a short somewhere causing it it.

Make sure there isn't something shorting the pins on the mobo or any graphics cards

I don't really know how this whole thing started. at first it was fine. then after a while it just started getting worse and worse until finally it wouldn't even turn on. my dad knew someone who fixed computers for the Army so we gave it to him to try and help. He thought it was just the power supply being fried. he bought a new one and put it in but when he went to turn it on it instantly fried it. now he says he is afraid to plug it into his own computer to try and do something about it. He also said it might have a virus but if that's the case then I can really fix it. sorry I can't answer your question.

sorry I cant the model and parts of my PC yet because I still need to get it back from my dad's friend though I will try to get it back as soon as possible. It shouldn't take long. you might have to wait a couple days though. sorry

Maybe the power button of the case is just defective.
Ask the friend, if the new psu is really fried and smelled like burned electronics or if it just won't start up.
Worse and worse means what exactly?
Sorry to ask all this, buy it's necessary to solve such a problem.
