Hi there,,

I recently bought the following:

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
Crucial CT240M500SSD1 2.5-inch 240gb M500
Crucial BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU Sport 8GB
Asus Z87-PRO Intel Z87 Socket 1150
Intel Core i5 4670K Quad Core
Asus GTX 770 Nvidia GeForce
NZXT Source 220
Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W

I put it all together and the first time I turned it on everything worked fine, except one of the fans on the graphics card wouldn't turn on. I turned it off and started tidying up some of the cables and tried to turn it on again but this time it turned on for a second and then turned off again. It wouldn't turn on for longer than a second whenever I tried to boot it. The fans would kick in and the led lights would come on, then it'd die.

I figured this must have been something I did so I took it all apart and put it back together again. Now I can't get it to boot it all. All that happens when I plug it in is the red led power on button on the motherboard lights up. I've pressed the power on button on the motherboard and on the case and neither works.

I tried to buy another psu to see if that was the problem but I've got exactly the same issue with the new PSU. I'm really confused and annoyed, could anyone here help? I'm thinking it must be a problem with the motherboard, unfortunately the usb 3.0 slot has lost a pin. Could that be the problem?

Thanks.

Hi Yogi,

Thanks for responding. I've tried removing the graphics card and swapping around the ram. It still doesn't boot. The only thing it shows on the motherboard is a constant red led on the power on button. Is this a motherboard issue you think?

IDK. What does the manual say about that red LED?

Hi Yogi,

Can't find anything about the red led on the power on button to be honest. I'm pretty sure I fried all my parts through static electricity though. First time building a computer, had no idea about the no building on carpet rule (No other surfaces to do it on) so I built it on the carpet completely. Now it doesn't work at all so pretty sure I did it. How depressing, honestly feel devastated.

Thanks for all your help though.
