(Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this) Over the last few months my pc has been acting strangely, and as of today will no longer turn on.
It started a few months back when my PC would freeze up after being on for hours. The screen would freeze with no specific sounds or error. Upon reboot it would not send a signal to my monitor, and my keyboards back light would no go on. I rebooted several times before it finally caught the signal. Orignally Ithought it was the GPU, but it would do this when I used the onboard gpu as well.
Today I had booted my pc, and after leaving it on for a few hours it lossed signal to the monitor, and the display would not come on until I switched the hdmi to the onboard gpu. I rebooted again thinking it would be fine, but nothing still on my 970. I decided to open my pc and check to see if the fan was even turning on (it was) and then decided to turn off the pc and unplug all the cables and reseat he gpu. I even removed the CMOS battery because i thought that may have helped as well
After hooking everything back up, i tried powering it up and.. nothing. The fans on my cpu, gpu, and power supply would kick on for maybe a second and then everything would shut off. I checked all the cables, and made sure everything was seated and then powred it back on, and was greeted by a crackling noise from my power supply. It makes these noises when the power switch is on, and even more so when I try turning the computer on.
So now I'm wondering if the power supply was the problem all along, or was it just one of the many things that could wrong. Do you guys think it might just be my Power supply?
