Computer won't wake from sleep mode (says no signal)

Hi all,

Running windows 7. My computer is a few years old. Never had any major problems with it until a few weeks ago.

Whenever I try to wake my computer from sleeping, everything turns on (or so it seems) except the monitor and I get a no signal message.

The only solution I have found is to turn it off for 30 seconds / unplug it and start it up again.

Sometimes it says that windows was unable to recover from sleep mode and gives me the choice of deleting the data (I do).

Could anyone help me out? Right now I'm having to turn my computer off every time which is inconvenient!

So I just ran a search from others' posts that were having this issue and have found a solution which worked for me.

Going to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Change System Sound> Sounds tab at the top > Change Sound Scheme (it's the drop down box) to No Sounds and apply.

So, this fix seems to work when idling my computer for short periods of time.

When left overnight in sleep mode the problem returns, can anyone help?
