Computer Won't work with GFX in motherboard

I am building a pc and when I hook up my video card (EVGA GTX 960 sc 4gb) my display wont recognize there is anything plugged into it. The front panel lights still come on and the fans still start though. When I don't have the video card plugged in it runs fine and the bios comes up without a problem. BTW my motherboard is a Asus B85M-G R2.0. All my parts are brand new so that shouldn't be the issue.

Make sure whatever cable you are using is plugged into the GPU itself, not the motherboard output.
