Hey,

Lately my computer is running slowly. Some processes taking long to proceed, games running not smoothly anymore.

There is a lot of dust in my CPu cooler, idk if it makes difference if it gets cleaned.

Specs:
AMD FX 6300 (default cooler, might upgrade to a better one cause its getting hot)
Geforce GTX 1050 Ti
16GB ram
2x 120GB SSD
1x 1TB HDD

Is it smarter to get a new cpu cooler, or clean the current one?

Solution
Dust clogging the CPU heat sink will diminish its ability to dissipate heat. That is probably causing the CPU to heat up and then throttle itself so it doesn't overheat. That throttling is what is causing the poor performance.

Cleaning the CPU heat sink will do wonders for your machine. While you are doing that, clean the CPU's fan blades as well with 91% alcohol. Dirty fan blades reduce the amount of air it can push through the heat sink.

You should also clean all of the case fans and any dust in the PSU and its fan.

While you are inside the box also remove and re-seat all the connectors, RAM modules, and add-on cards and blow out the inside of the case.

I would only replace the CPU cooler if the CPU is still running hot after...
