Hey guys,

So for the last 2 days my computer has been stuck on the ASUS motherboard screen and hung there with the messaging 'preparing automatic restart'. I could get into the bios, but I could not get into a safe mode boot. It wouldn't loop or anything, just be stuck there were the spinning circle was also frozen.

However, today I decided to just start it up and its working fine! How can I troubleshoot what the error was so it doesn't happen again

While it wasn't working the previous few days, I tried resetting and using some of my RAM sticks, as well as clearing the CMOS.

CrystalDiskInfo says my SSD is in a good state at 96% health

Please let me know how I can find out the cause!

Specs:
Radeon 5600G
32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
ASUS Prime B550M-A Motherboard
TP-link wifi card
WD NVME M.2 1TB SSD
Corsair RM 550x Power Supply

Its about 3-4 years old

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

That would mean your storage drive that houses the OS is faulty/failing or your OS is corrupt. You could try and perform a system restore and see if that brings your OS back to life.

ASUS Prime B550M-A Motherboard
Is this;
the motherboard you're working with? If so, BIOS version for your motherboard?

32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Got a link to the ram kit used?

edit: ignore, your screen would be blank for the case below

check your power supply voltages in bios. check to make sure power supply is not overheating.
a good power supply sets a power_ok signal to the motherboard. The motherboard should not start up until it gets the signal.
crappy power supplies fake the signal and your motherboard can start up before the power is stable.
