Greetings all.
I am running an AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4ghz (AM3+) in a full-sized tower case. The tower case is a few years old now (think I bought it back in 2008), but I love the ample room in it and the massive fans that it has, and so I've held on to it through multiple rebuilds of my gaming machine. It has two 250mm fans on the side, one 200mm fan on top (but this fan is actually dead right now), and a 120mm exhaust fan on the back. There's also an optional 120mm fan slot in the front of the case, but I've never placed a fan there before because I figured it was mostly just for cooling your HDD's (which I don't need to).
I am cooling my AMD chip with a ZALMAN CNPS9500A-LED 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler. It's the third one that I've owned, and they've always worked great for me.... HOWEVER...
My idle chip temp hangs around 29 to maybe 34 degrees at most. It fluctuates depending on the hot air that gathers under my desk, which is where my PC is located.
When I play a certain online MMORPG then I see the temps hit anywhere from 53 to 60 degrees. It actually was hitting 65 this past weekend, so I did some checking and realized that I'd stuck my Zalman heatsink facing the wrong direction! I fixed that problem and I haven't seen the temps go over 60 since then.
So my question is this - are temps in the range 60 degrees really that bad? Should I be worried at all about my chip running at 60 degrees for 4 or 5 hours at a time?
Thanks in advance for the help, and I apologize for the super long post!
