Hi all,
I'm trying to help my elderly mother resolve an issue with a game she plays on her PC.
She's been playing Jewel Quest 6, loaded via PC CD-ROM, for years. A month ago it stopped loading. If I reinstall, she'll lose her game progress. And I'm not sure that'd fix the issue anyway.
I've contacted the game company for technical support, sent them a DXDIAG report, and they've asked that I update the computer's drivers. As a novice, I'm a bit wary.
Why was the game running fine for so long and then stopped?
Why are other versions of Jewel Quest, earlier versions of the game, still running fine but this one ceased suddenly?
I read that updating or unnecessarily installing new drivers can destabilise systems.
I disregarded my novice concerns and followed the link this company sent me to install Graphics Driver for Intel G41 Express Chipset Windows 7 (64-bit) 8.15.10.2869, but this process failed because the system "doesn't meet the minimum requirements."
The company are now requesting that I install Graphics Driver for Intel G41 Express Chipset Windows 7 (32-bit) 8.15.10.2869
I'm so confused. Want to help resolve this for my Mum but don't want to destroy her system entirely.
The computer specs (if these are relevant):
DELL Inspiron One 19A.
Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU 2.7Ghz
The Driver File Version: 8.15.10.2702
Card name: Intel (R) G41 Express Chipset
Jewel Quest 6 specs (if these are relevant):
Windows XP SP3/Vista/7
1GHz processor
1 GB RAM
64 MB video card (32-bit graphics)
350 MB hard drive space
Direct X9.0.
Could someone jump in here and let me know if they think this is a reasonable solution... to install this new driver....?
Thanks in advance!
