Question Conditioning Replacement Battery

Hello!

I recently installed a replacement battery in my laptop, and per my laptop manufacturer's instructions, I have to do 3 charge and discharge cycles.... at least that is the recommendation. Is this actually necessary?

Following the instructions will maximize your battery capacty and will allow the laptop to accurately predict available runtime. Why would you NOT follow the manufacturer's instructions?
