Hi all .. thanks up front for any help. I´m not an IT expert just a normal user who has been tasked to find an answer to our condo´s internet access.

I`m helping to run a condo with 66 apartments, i´m looking to install a network system so that all the apartments can have access to the internet.

I´ve two offers from companies who have offered little detail so i´m trying to find out what the best solution would be.
The first guy wants to run a Cat5 cable to access points in the apartment he said we only need a 200MB connection to the internet.
The second guy wants to install WIFI access points and says we need a 800MB connection to the internet.

I´m sceptical with the first solution of "only" a 200MB connection to the internet with 66 apartments but like the idea of using a wired system altho this would probably mean that each apartment would have to buy a router. With the second solution again i´m sceptical of where the access points would be and how we would know if an apartment with more people would be able to use the WIFI from a second apartment if the access code was known. So how to properly secure a WIFI network would be another problem.

So what would be your ideal solution that wouldn´t cost the condo the world. Thanks

I would go with a wired connection to each unit wifi is way to much support headache. Wired is pretty much trouble free once you get it installed.

200m is nowhere near enough for that many units. When you consider someone may want to watch 4k netflix which takes 20m just for 1 feed.

Still I would not even get into that mess. I would wire ethernet cable back to a central location. I would then contact various ISP and offer them the opportunity to place their equipment in that room. They would be responsible for dealing with the end users and each person could buy different size connections based on their needs.

You do not want to become a ISP. Someone will always do something bad. It can be as simple as someone...

You do not want to become a ISP. Someone will always do something bad. It can be as simple as someone constantly using all the bandwidth to people actually doing illegal stuff. You will quickly get into having to have logging servers and bandwidth monitors etc etc. It is best to just let a ISP deal with this since they already have all those things in place.
