Question Conecting Intel 750 series SSD (Mini SAS) to Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro

My current system failed (Asus X99-A based) and looking to build a new system based on the Z390 board.

I have an Intel 750 series SSD (PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 ) as boot drive which I really need to transplant and use in the new system but am unsure of compatability and what is required.

On the Asus board it connects via an ASUS Hyperkit board which fits in the M.2 slot of the board and the Mini SAS plug fits into that board. There is an option in the BIOS which must be set to enable the Kyperkit board.

Essentially I just need to know how I can use the 750 series SSD as the boot drive on a Z390 based system?

Asus only lists compatibility up to Z170 so it doesn't appear that it will even though you think it would work since it should be independent of the motherboard.

Odds of successfully booting to the old X99 OS is another story. Due to the difference in drivers it may very well crash. But you should have enough access to recover files if needed.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would say 'yeah, no problem' LOL. I did push the button on the Z390 anyway, will just be a world of pain if I couldn't use it. Probaly no data that isn't backed up but never cloned the drive of did any sort of OS config dump. Lots of applications and tweaking on it though as was a workhorse PC so still keeping my fingers crossed.
