[SOLVED] configure seagate hard drive in mac

I bought a Free-agent goflex external hard drive, and used it for a long time in an old macbook pro (2009) I had until recently. I bought a new mac today, but its not reading the external drive; it won't even display in the desktop or in finder despite the fact that the disk is running. Is there an issue with the new softwares?

Do you see it in Disk utilities? if not, the usb port on your new laptop, might be not working.

If you plug in something else in that port, like a mouse or a keyboard, does it work?
