Configuring ABIT softmenu to work with AthlonXP

I just installed an AthlonXP 1800+ processor into my ABIT KG7-RAID motherboard. I need to know the proper settings to enter into the SoftMenuIII for this processor. What values should I put in for the CPU muliplier factor, FSB clock speed, the voltages, etc.? I am guessing that I should first choose "User Define" and then change the muliplier to 11.5x, the FSB to 133MHz, but I don't know if this is right and I don't know what I should put for the rest. I just want to be sure that I am entering the correct values! I don't want to do any overclocking, so I don't want to push anything past what it should be for a 1.53GHz AthlonXP 1800+. Thanks for your help!

The defaults for your processor are etched into the L bridges on the CPU. Your system should boot with the correct values for that processor, ie. 11.5x, 133mhz, and whatever the default voltage is supposed to be. You shouldn't have to change any of these settings in the BIOS.

No, thank you. Just give me the BIG heatsink. It's an Athlon.

Do the xp's come preset, most 1.4ghz tbirds did not, and you had to manually set the multiplier in the bios.(atleast the fsb speed, I had to set my multiplier, but I unlocked my 1.33)

I can't answer that with certainty as I do not have an Athlon XP. I just said it should work. Usually, Athlons are autodetected, FSB, multiplier, and core voltage. (Clearing the CMOS may be required).

If the processor is un-locked and FSB and multiplier have been changed then the defaults will no longer used until the CMOS is cleared again. That's on motherboards that use only BIOS settings to for FSB and multiplier, of course, like the Abit boards. One should always clear the CMOS when POSTing for the first time or after adding a new processor. It just make things easier.

Using Abit's Failsafe boot (holding down the insert key during POST) will use the minimum multiplier and the default voltage. I think the default FSB is used, as well. (Maybe, 100mhz is used for Failsafe. I forget).

Abit has released new BIOS 5E that supports AthlonXP.
