Configuring ADSL router with my static IP based ethernet broadband

Hi guys, I have been searching a lot but could not find a working solution for this. I believe this is possible but just not able to make it work.

I have a ADSL Wifi router from Siemens. This router is not having any ethernet in port. Just an adsl with 4 lan port.

I have tried to use a lan cable from my other router (internet is working on this) in to the adsl one and once I reboot the adsl router, I can simply use the internet using its wifi.

I have static configuration to access internet from my ISP. I fail to access the Internet or even access to router config panel when I try to configure the adsl router using the provided ip config with isp line connected to one lan port (i always used lan4). I can access the router config keeping the ISP line out without removing the config. I also do not get any unidentified network in my window network adapter.

Below are few screenshots. I have few questions in each of them

What is the practical difference between MER and IPoA. Which option I should use.

What is VPI and VCI. What is the need and meaning of different entries here.

I have tried configuring both MER and IPoA with the following settings in my adsl and both results in same thing. First - ADSL Router, Second - My other working router

Hi

Connecting two routers is always difficult
Especially when you do not give sufficient info to identify them

A typical internet router is actually a adsl modem, router, switch and wireless access point in one box
Or if your internet comes from cable or fibre the modem is separate box connected to the router, switch + wireless access point by ethernet cable

Your isp will provide details on what settings for the router to talk to the systems at the exchange
You may be able to lookup the settings on a working system

Typically the isp provides software to configure the router they supply for you

The non standard settings are for your account name and password

If you link 2 routers together you need to disable the router (and modem) in the one not directly connected to the telephone line and use only the wireless access point component

It is usually easier to get specific wireless access point
or get a single system which includes modem, router, switch , wireless access point

Get the internet configuration settings from your ISP

( they vary by isp and country)

Thanks for the reply, but what ever u said doesn't answer any of my doubt.

1. I want to understand the meaning of VPI and VCI and the point of using different numbers in them.
2. What is the practical difference of MER and IPoA

FYI, I have the config details of my ISP as mentioned in the screenshot in OP.

I can use my adsl router as Wifi AP already but for that I need to have the config setup in my main router. I am looking for a solution to avoid using the main router and configure the static IP provided by ISP into my adsl router.
