Configuring router to allow client to client communications

I'm trying to connect my gaming console to my laptop via router through a wireless network, and having no luck. All I know is how to connect laptops and computers on the same network, and this laptop and gaming console is rather new to me. what settings should I try configuring? Both devices are connected to the internet with the same wireless network but they cant seem to communicate.

Are you doing this to share files through DNLA or something? Did you setup the file sharing on the laptop for the directories/files you want the console to see?

What console is it and why and how are you trying to have it see the laptop on the netwok?

Does the laptop see other computers and do other computers see the laptop OK? Just the console having issues?
