Earlier today I made a thread asking what needs to be upgraded in my current build to improve fps in certain games. I made a list of what I need, but I'm wondering if it's going to be functional. One problem I might have is the power supply.

Here is the list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4DvDdC
I will also write it out if that's easier....

CPU: AMD FX-6300
- CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO (Cooler Master)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+

Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Vengence

Storage: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue

GPU: R9 290

Case: Corsair 300r

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W

I already know the power supply is probably bare minimum and I most likely need to upgrade it. I have everything listed here in my existing PC besides the GPU, motherboard, and CPU.

All I'm looking for is if this setup looks good and can function well. Thank you!

Stick with R9 290. But the R9 290 requires a quality 600W PSU that can deliver 31Amps or more on its +12V rail. So the Corsair...
Thanks for the reply, but the gtx 970 is $100 more than the card i'm looking at is. Unless the r9 290 is unusable, I would rather keep the price as low as possible. Would you recommend another card near the same price range (~$250) that could replace the r9 290? Thanks.

Alright buddy I just told you it was NOT good for the price. The GTX 970 is 343.98 dollars on Newegg right now, while the R9 290 is only $260 with mail in rebate. I'm going to assume you misread what I said or you're still learning English. If you want to recommend a card near the same price as the R9 290, I would appreciate it.

Stick with R9 290. But the R9 290 requires a quality 600W PSU that can deliver 31Amps or more on its +12V rail. So the Corsair CX500 may not be enough to power your entire rig along with this power hungry card. Besides, the Corsair Builder series PSUs comes with cheap capacitors, so its longevity is questionable. Consider this:

Update:

Swapped the previously recommended Seasonic with Antec as the card needs two 8 pin connectors.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

The Antec is a quality 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular HCG 620W PSU that can deliver 48Amps on its +12V rail, more than enough to power you entire rig.

Stick with that Gigabyte motherboard, which is a damn good one. Your updated part list - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Tj2jkL

Other components you've selected are pretty good. No changes required.

Cheers!

I'm very sorry that was my bad for not being clear. For today's use you should have at least 500watts but I just built my pc with a 400watt using a AMD A10 7870k APU with not additional GPU added . You should be fine but should consider maybe 600watts
