Motorola has finally clarified that the Moto X Play (rumoured to be coming to the U.S. as the "Droid Maxx 2") does in fact have phase detect autofocus.

Motorola Moto X Play is already available in other countries like Mexico or Brazil with motomaker and two options in countries like Spain.

The 4K video is not supported because older QDSP6 is used on S615. All offloading on Qualcomm SoC's is done by DSPs & after years & years they still didn't written suport for much of suitable multimedia tasks. Guess is for PDAF it's poorly written or bad implemented on this Motorola. I whose very disappointed that "Spectra" (on upcoming S820) actually is only a large 2x1024 SIMD aria, most similar to the AVX on X86 side. I hoped to see something generally more useful, high programmable FPGA that is.
