Dual booting PC; both with NT4; for the purpose of disaster recovery (OS
repair). The normal booting NT4 (SP6a) has IE 6 installed on it, put the
parallel NT4 (SP5) has IE4 on it.
On the normal booting OS, McAfee VirusScan detected that a web page virus
was suddenly present at
C:\Winnt\Profiles\Administrator\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.ie5\dirsmz6F\doit[1].exe
However <doit[1].exe> couldn't be deleted because it was in-use. It didn't
at first occur to me to go to Task Manager and end task on that executable
before attempting to delete it, so I rebooted to the parallel NT OS and
tried to delete it that way.
However, the parallel NT OS doesn't see any files in the folder
C:\Winnt\Profiles\Administrator\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.ie5\dirsmz6F other than the file
ie4updates-en.cdf which by the way is a file not seen by the normally
booting NT OS. Both OSes have Windows Explorer set to show all files.
Why do the two OSes see dfferent files in the same folder?
Also, via the parallel OS, I see headings in the right pane of Windows
Explorer for that folder that don't appear in the right pane of the normal
OS:
