Hi! I'm trying to upgrade my laptop's RAM, however I'm getting conflicting information as far as the maximum amount I can upgrade to. The Crucial Upgrade Finder thingy says the most I can have is 64GB. However, Lenovo's product specification sheet for the laptop says the max capacity is 32GB. I've gotten mixed reports from other sites as well, some saying 32GB is the cap and others say 64GB. Where can I go to find an authoritative answer, or are either Lenovo or Crucial correct?

Laptop is a Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05. Bios version is EUCN39WW, if that matters.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Crucial's site for upgrades, has lead me down he wrong path in the past. I'd stick to the laptop's product specifications reference sheet when moving ahead with parts upgrades.
Thanks! However I just found posts of other people on Lenovo's forums that have upgraded to 64GB successfully, so I might go that route. Seems weird that there's so much conflicting information when it comes to this stuff. Thanks! I'm curious, in what way did Crucial mislead you?

Couple of laptops, all were only able to support a maximum of 8GB, per their specs page. Crucial stated I could go to 16GB, bought a kit that they'd suggested on heir own site. Installed it with the latest BIOS version on the laptop, no go.

You might want to keep in mind that when you max out the ram capacity and/or frequency, adds more stress to the memory controller. Brands like Lenovo tend to keep their numbers in the safe zone so users don't send in their units for being defective due to an end user error. Lenovo and their ilk will tend to play it safe to avoid users from ruining something that's functional.

If you looked at prior laptops, maxing out ram capacity and frequency did lead to a hotter processor/chipset.

Regardless, good luck on the ram upgrade.

That definitely makes sense, and I've seen more people having success upgrading to 32GB and less people in general upgrading to 64GB. I didn't even think about the memory controller. Thanks again!
